Most of us here on Long Island have already started making our homes more energy efficient, less costly to heat and cool, more comfortable and overall….more green.  It’s a fact, more Long Islanders are investing in insulation in their homes, and have starting using more efficient lighting.  Green Homes are outselling their competitors nationwide.  Homes are considered “green” if they receive certification from the government’s Energy Star or the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.  The Consortium offers programs to all Long Island homeowners no matter what town, city, or village they live in.
